Kenya Rutengo Kii
$25.25
Formed in 1997 by members of the former Ngariama Cooperative in Kenya's Kirinyaga County, the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society now operates three processing mills (called factories) in the region and comprises over 7,500 members who grow, with great care, coffees of the SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11 varieties that Kenya is renowned for. This coffee comes from Rungeto's Kii washing station where ripe coffee cherries are sorted, pulped, fermented, and washed using fresh, clean, fast flowing cold water from the peaks of nearby Mt. Kenya. After washing, coffee is dried on raised beds for 8 to 14 days. Great care is taken during all stages of harvesting, processing, and drying and the result is a delicately clean, crisp, and vibrant cup bursting with a myriad of tropical fruits, currants, berries, and sweet florals.
